Helping realtors think about climate change

Previous posts have discussed how where we choose to live contributes to the effects of climate change, both by promoting carbon lifestyles and building in locations at risk.  The Missoula Organization of Realtors hosted a conference on the effects of climate change on their industry.  This is a step in the right direction.  Missing from the presentation though were the perspectives on urban interface living from local government planners and public land managers.

  1. Well, the good news is at least someone is talking about this. I just sat through a community meeting where some people are still denying that the climate is changing. They wanted to argue whether the causes to this “change” is truly anthropogenic. That’s sticking your head in the sand if you ask me. It’s time to thinking critically about what our response will be, both personally and socially.

  2. Thanks for the good word. Providing FEMA & landslide hazard maps with every house sold would leave coastal people with information they need while leaving the “right” to argue about the cause open.
