I don’t see any mention of how timber work will be accomplished, the ‘old-fashioned’ way, using inexperienced temporary employees.
Email interviews allow for well-packaged talking points, but I like how she pushed back at some of Evergreen’s more ridiculous “beliefs” – like “We also believe the Chief’s office needs a staff of no more than 100…” She seems to be a big supporter of fire use (which Evergreen apparently isn’t). I especially liked her response to the idea of “moving the forest management decision-making process out of the Washington Office and back to the Forest Supervisor’s level:” “The implications of local decisions are broader than in the past, especially in this information age and social networking. So isolated, local decisions just do not exist anymore. Today these decisions require local managers to think within a larger context.”
