Ryan Zinke’s flag has been taken off the Interior pole: The loyal soldier for Trump’s “energy dominance” agenda had tallied up more than a dozen federal investigations

Lots of news about Secretary Zinke’s resignation today. The self-professed “geologist” was rocked by numerous scandals. As harsh as most all of the news coverage about Zinke’s departure is today, I’m going to say that history will judge Zinke even harsher.

  1. Merry Christmas and Happy New year

Let us pray for a miracle – that the replacement is acceptable to both of us – if that is possible. 🙂

  2. Calling Grijalva a drunk on a tweet and putting the hashtag of the bar where Grijalva just happened to be having “lunch” makes sense now. (Grijalva left the bar in a hurry) No harm in ridiculing the head of the committee who will be investigating you if you know you will be gone at the time.

Sally Jewell, who almost never tweets now that she’s left the department, voiced her approval. I think the multi billion dollar recreation industry loved to hate the guy with a cowboy hat and horse.

  3. It said in some stories that he had let his wife ride in a government rig. My memory is that that was OK in specific circumstances if approved by your supervisor. Also, I’ve seen people take their dogs out in the field in government rigs. Does anyone know what the rules actually are?

    • I was able to bring a friend along with me, when I was a Harvest Inspector. My friend was already a Forest Service employee (and Holly, ironically, was working for Sharon, near Placerville). What we did was to set up a Volunteer agreement, just to cover all the legal issues. It was an opportunity for some cross-training.
