Science X Webinar Series This Week: Adaptive Silviculture for Climate Change

I received this as an email and copied it, so the links don’t work here. Here’s a link with lots of information. They also have recordings of their recent ScienceX program on genetics. No doubt these will also be recorded.

  1. Will they also consider the carbon consequences of their treatments to increase climate change resilience? Are there treatments that can harmonize climate change adaptation and climate change mitigation?

    • Of course. They have to analyze this to the extent of their ability. However as a former analyzer, it’s hard to know.. with climate change supposedly comes more bugs and wildfires and dead trees. So all the “saved carbon” might burn up anyway. I think that’s where some of the disagreements might occur. Sure they will consider and pick treatments that harmonize but they might just not come to the same conclusions as you on what harmonization is.
