The same sentiments could also be said about Sierra Forest Products mill in Terra Bella, California. They are the last mill in all of the southern half of California. I’ve seen loads of logs shipped from 6 hours away, one way, from the San Bernardino. They’ve seen the Giant Sequoia National Monument installed right in their backyard. The Sierra National Forest has consistently underperformed in meeting volume targets, despite extra funding. So, even having a monopoly on the scant timber volume from 5 National Forests, they are still teetering on the brink of solvency.
