We’re always talking about things people disagree about, controversies and difficulties. I can’t even get journalists interested in the Stanislaus success story. I think it’s important to try to highlight all the great work that Forest Service employees are doing.

Lots of “doing”, but what did they accomplish? There’s always a “happy talk” element to these types of publications that doesn’t show the tough issues like homeless camping on the Deschutes, or trash dumping or vandalism.
What does the Watershed Condition Framework show for the Deschutes and how did their work in 2023 improve Watershed Conditions? What does the Terrestrial Condition Assessment show for the Deschutes and how did their work in 2023 improve Terrestrial Conditions?
How is indigenous knowledge being incorporated into management?
Why is the “balance” between “protecting” and other work “delicate”?
Your comments made me wonder about the relationship between this and the monitoring reports required by NFMA (which should be focused on achieving desired conditions).
