I don’t usually publish job ads, but this one sounded so good I couldn’t help it. (Wonder if there’s an age limit..) There might be someone out there in TSW land looking for this kind of opportunity.

Hi Sharon. A little nostalgia here. I was pursuing a career in journalism when we temporarily moved to Fort Collins so David could pursue a PhD in forest mensuration (He working for Forest Service FIA at the time). On our drive over I noticed the awesome state forestry complex west of Cameron Pass and thought “I want to work for those guys.” After a newspaper job in Loveland fell through, I applied for CSU jobs. One was communication with State Forestry Dept. However, CSU employees could “bump” into other positions. Someone from the Office of Communication “bumped” into the state forestry job. But I got their job with OUC which began lane change for me from news reporting to public affairs. I continued the forestry dream by getting an MA in forest policy, taking a class from the infamous Regional Forester Craig Rupp and eventually making my way to public affairs in the Forest Service! Sorry for long story but I still remember those cool green cabins on the road to Cameron Pass.
Don’t apologize for stories! It’s always interesting to tell and hear people’s stories. And the patterns that emerge from the seemingly random paths we take in our lives..
