Back in 2022 there was a thread about the apparent removal of an online USFS employee directory, formerly at https://www.fs.usda.gov/about-agency/contact-us. Has anyone found such a directory? I’m trying to contact an employee about a specific project…. Without such a directory, it’s difficult to find contact info, especially if the employee has moved to another office.
Used to be able to use: https://www.fs.usda.gov/about-agency/contact-us/employee-search?fname=FIRSTNAME_OF_PERSON&lname=LASTNAME_OF_PERSON&field_fs_employee_department_value=. I last used it a few months ago… now it redirects to https://www.fs.usda.gov/about-agency/contact-us. So it seems they don’t want people to be able to find phone and email contact info anymore.
Found same.. I will contact the same person who fixed it last time.
Apparently it’s been taken offline, the press office is getting back to me with the rationale.
All of the Forest Service email addresses are now: [email protected] There are some exceptions for duplicate names and where folks don’t use their legal first name, but those are not very common. You can always call the National Forest or Ranger District where the person works or used to work if don’t like using email. But there are so many people on details/temporary assignments right now it is hard to keep track of who is where even if you work for the Forest Service.
A. I understand what you are saying, but sometimes it is very difficult to figure out the name you’re looking for. For example, I was looking for the Press Office in R2- I googled it and it came up with an old page with wrong phone numbers, which I actually couldn’t tell because it said “the mailbox is full”. So I tried the RM Station, and they had a contact form to contact them, which ultimately worked, and they gave me the phone number of the R-2 person, when I called her I found out her name, so that was good and also that the page was old. I think they removed it. That also assumes folks return your calls which they may not. Some places are excellent and everything is clear and straightforward, with human beings answering the main phone line, up-to-date web info and working phone numbers. Others not so much. Can I just say “decentralized organization”?
